Sci2School: Science Teaching to Support Children Learning Science

Duration: 2019-2021

Funding: PSP Flagship, Fonds National de la Recherche

Context and Objectives:

The Sci2School (Science Teaching to Support Children Learning Science) project focuses on developing and providing high-quality, research-based resources for Luxembourg primary science teachers.

In response to a need identified in the national context for resources and support for teachers in science education, Sci2School has two key objectives:

  •  the development and dissemination of digitally available pedagogical resources for teachers to use in their science teaching; and
  • the facilitation of innovative, long-term, school-based science education professional development courses for primary school teachers, adapted to the individual context of each school.

The project focusses on competency-based science education with the aim of establishing professional learning communities among teachers to help them teach science in an active and inquiry-based way.

The overall objective of this project is to promote science teaching in primary schools in Luxembourg through contextual resources and pedagogical support. These resources and training opportunities are developed by the SciTeach team at the University of Luxembourg, an experienced group of researcher and primary school teachers who established the Science Teacher Resource Center (SciTeach Center) in 2016.
